There are generally two main types of printers which are normally considered by consumers who are looking for a new printer model. Ink jet printers are usually considered the more popular choice because they are initially cheaper. Laser printers are another option, however, that may be a wise investment. While expensive, laser printers are usually bigger, faster, and last for a longer period of time than inkjet cartridges. They may, however, be lacking in other areas and you will want to seriously consider how these particular machines are going to benefit you before you buy one.
An ink cartridge printer is typically reliable, although it works at a slower pace. When you use an ink jet, the pages will be printed line by line, with the ink head running over the sheet of paper line by line. It can take quite a bit of time for pages to be produced. When you are printing large documents in a hurry, this is where a laser printer will come in handy. The only catch with a laser printer is that it needs to warm up first, which can take a few minutes. If you only need a few sheets, an ink jet may be able to give you a single sheet faster.
The colors on a laser printer are also often not as defined as with an ink printer. You may be able to get better depth and range with the ink cartridges over the limited amount that a laser printer can target. Therefore, while a laser printer seems attractive, unless you have a high volume of paper which needs printed, an inkjet printer may be the smarter investment.
