In this economy we are all constantly searching for ways to save money. I know I am. One thing I decided I could definitely save money on is the ink cartridges for my printer. Printer ink is one of the most expensive liquids that we buy. It sells by the millimeter, but if you do the math, you’ll find that it actually costs thousands of dollars per gallon. So rightfully it’s one of the necessary things in our lives that we want to save as much money on as possible. One way to save money on ink is to buy generic printer cartridges or have your cartridges refilled. Manufacturers try to dissuade us from this by telling you this will yield poor results and might even damage your printer, but many people do it without suffering any adverse consequences.
But even if you prefer not to chance it and decide to buy new cartridges from the manufacturer there are still ways to save on ink. First, consider the cost when you are buying a new printer. Most printers will give you an estimate of either the price per page or the number of prints you get from a cartridge so you can check the price of cartridges and do your own math. There are also ways to operate your printer to use less ink per page. You can change the speed and quality of your prints. And you can save printer ink and paper by only printing the section of a document you need. This is especially true for web pages, which can sometimes take up many pages when printed indiscriminately. Another way to save is to reduce the size of your print job if you only want to proof a document. And this is only a start to the ways I found to save money on printing.
