With the Officejet 6000 Wireless, HP brings cheap ink

April 1st, 2010

Hewlett-Packard recently released the latest edition to its Officejet line with the HP Officejet 6000 Wireless color inkjet printer.

PC World performed quality tests on the printer, finding that text averaged 7.4 pages per minute. But when it prints photos using HP’s specialized paper, the machine works at 1.9 pages per minute.

The publication says that the Officejet 6000 being slower is the only difference between its more expensive cousin, the Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless.

PC World says the color prints from the machines come out with a natural look but the text quality was just “a hair shy of crisp.”

Despite these setbacks, high-yield ink cartridges selling at $31.99 for the printer will amount to a cost of only 2.7 cents per page.

With a price of $120, the publication recommends the machine for small and midsized businesses that need to spend less.

“A full-featured, fairly sturdy design distinguishes the Officejet 6000 Wireless,” the review says. “It would be a good inkjet printer deal for many small, low- to mid-volume offices on a budget.”

Kodak recently released a printer with Wi-Fi as well. The $150 Kodak ESP 5250 also faxes and copies, the company announced.
