Lexmark International unveiled the Pinnacle as the newest addition to its line of printers at the recent fifth annual Small Business Summit.
After the event, the model, with the full title Pinnacle Pro901, quickly won the 2010 Hot Tech Demo Award. Judges at the summit cited the printer’s unique ability to yield 500 pages of printing from one $4.99 ink cartridge.
The printer comes with touch-screen navigation and is web-connected. It is designed for use by small- and medium-sized businesses to fax, scan, copy and print.
Ramon Ray, editor of Smallbiztechnology.com, approved of the product, noting that the Pinnacle offers efficiency solutions that businesses can actually grasp.
“There are so many new technologies in today’s market that small businesses have a hard time knowing which to buy and how to use them most effectively to maximize productivity,” says Ray. “It’s refreshing to see a real AIO tool with Web solutions that add a much-desired layer of simplicity to business processes.”
The ink-efficient printer will be available in April 2010.
The cost savings of ink efficiency aren’t the only thing consumers should consider when buying a printer, according to Lexmark. The company released a study in 2009 that both laser and inkjet printers significantly contribute to carbon footprints that cause global warming.
