Epson Stylus Color 480 Printer When I bought the Epson Stylus Colour 480, the price was £58.99, but nowadays you'll get it for 51.99, which has got to be the best value for money ever.
The resolution is 720dpi, enough to compete with more expensive printers.
Now, normally when you buy a printer at this price, you would only have one slot for your cartridge, so you would have to change your cartridge everytime you go from colour printing to black and white. But this one has got a dual cartridge system, something you would normally find in more expensive printers. The same could be said about the built quality, which is very solid. The design is very modern, very fresh.
The cartridges usualy cost about £12 for the black and £16 for the tri-colour cartridge, but you can get compatible ones for about £6 per set (one black and one tri-colour). I have used them and I can't find a difference in quality, be careful though, because if you use the compatible ones, you are no longer covered by the one year warranty.
There are two versions of the Stylus Colour 480 around now, a parallel version and a USB version, both come without the cable. The parallel version is the older one, although I find it better, because my computer has only got two USB-ports, so after connecting Scanner and Modem, there is no space left for the printer.
Overall the Epson Stylus Colour 480 is very good value for money and for that price it really delivers good quality printouts and it is very cheap in running cost, too.
